The second day of eliminations on the EPICENTER Major playoffs has kicked off and two teams exited the tournament after a single best-of-one series. Meanwhile, Vici Gaming is the star of their side on the upper bracket, but TNC is really the king of today.
LOWER BRACKET MATCHES
Today, there were two lower bracket matches. The first was Alliance versus Infamous. Infamous was apparently the underdogs on this event. Dominik “Black^” commented in an on-site interview for EPICENTER on how his team struggled to practice.
According to him, it was hard to prepare because apparently they are not welcomed by their fellow South American teams. Unfortunately, the effect was evident in their performance. Alliance took over the game easily. Not to discredit Alliance’s performance, but Infamous wasn’t able to bring a good fight. The South American team head home empty-handed, though perhaps not surprised. Assuming they will stick together, their next step should be the regional qualifier for The International 2019.
OG versus Evil Geniuses was easily the match of the day. Despite not having Johan “N0tail” Sundstein still in the hospital, captain Titouan “Sockshka” Merloz, replaced him. The captain must be feeling the pressure to ensure OG hammered the tournament by earning enough DPC points for The International 2019. Against the odds, OG pulled out the win, eliminating Evil Geniuses from the last tournament of the Dota 2 Pro Circuit season.
UPPER BRACKET RESULTS
TNC won over Royal Never Give Up in a 2-1 series. This secured TNC enough DPC points to get a direct invitation to The International 2019. Our very own all Filipino squad must be very happy with that.
Vici Gaming versus Gambit was one-dominated and one-sided, 2 – 0 in favor of Vici Gaming. Gambit drops down to the lower bracket to face Ninjas in Pyjamas.
For the last series of the day, Vici Gaming versus TNC was held. Vici Gaming won with 2-1. TNC drops to the lower bracket and takes a break waiting for their opponent on June 29.
